Professional Awards

Administrator of the Year Awards

Nomination Criteria:

  • Letter of support/recommendation from the nominating KAHPERD member, describing  the administrator’s role in supporting the profession in one of the following areas: Physical Education, Health, Recreation, or Dance
  • Additional letter of support/recommendation from a colleague/staff or parent that describes the administrator’s supportive role
  • Professional Headshot (JPEG, 300dpi minimum)

Nomination forms must be submitted by March 10th.

The criteria requirements listed above must be submitted to the Awards Committee Chair by June 15th.
 

Young Professional of the Year

Nomination Criteria:

  • A member of KAHPERD
  • Has taught for no more than 5 years in the profession (at time of nomination)
  • Has shown exemplary leadership in one of the areas of the profession (health, physical education, recreation, or dance)

Nomination forms must be submitted by March 10th.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Two letters of support/recommendation from a district official, an administrator, colleague, parent, and/or student
  • Personal essay/profile summarizing  professional history, professional leadership (in physical education, health education, recreation, or dance education), service to the community, contribution to the profession, accomplishments (personal and professional) and/or other important information as it pertains to the award
  • Professional headshot (JPEG at 300 dpi minimum)

Candidate must submit requirements to the Awards Committee Chair by June 15th.
 

Recreation Professional of the Year

Nomination Criteria:

  • A current member of KAHPERD (more than 3 years)
     
  • Has completed more than 5 years of experience as a leader in the field of recreation
     
  • Award winners will be encouraged to present at the following year’s KAHPERD conference and submit an article for the KAHPERD journal/newsletter.

Nomination forms must be submitted by March 10th.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Two letters of support/recommendation from an administrator/supervisor, colleague, and/or parent
     
  • A personal essay/profile summarizing  professional history, leadership (facility/participation development, fundraising, ….), service to the community (increased/improved participation, awareness, attitude, ….), contribution to the profession (represented through presentations, publications, event organization, …), accomplishments (personal and professional), and/or other important information as it pertains to the award 
     
  • Professional Headshot (JPEG, 300dpi minimum)

Candidate must submit requirements to the Awards Committee Chair by June 15th.
