Awards & Grants
Award Eligibility:
- An active member of KAHPERD (membership remains active throughout the award process - initial enrollment date is prior to nomination and continues for the year as an award recipient)
- A junior or senior on track towards earning a degree in physical education, health education or a related discipline (recreation, dance, kinesiology, sport management, exercise science, fitness/wellness, athletic training)
- Has a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
- Has been selected as the Future Professional (major) of the Year at the attending university/college
Award Criteria:
- Criteria #1: Provides service to the local community (notes three to five avenues of contribution from the following examples: projects, special events, volunteer work) for a minimum of two years during the undergraduate career
- Criteria #2: Provides service to the profession (notes three to five avenues of contribution from the following examples: presentations, committee work, KAHPERD board member, university/college board member) for a minimum of two years during the undergraduate career
- Criteria #3: Provides service to the college/university environment (notes three to five avenues of contribution from the following examples: major’s club, volunteer work, mentoring, presentations, special events) for a minimum of two years during the undergraduate career
Award recipients will be nominated for the Central District Major of the Year Award.
Award Recipient Requirements:
Award recipients will be responsible for presenting at the following year’s KAHPERD conference and submitting an article for the KAHPERD journal/newsletter.
