Graduate Student of the Year

Award Eligibility:

  • An active member of KAHPERD (membership remains active throughout the award process - initial enrollment date is prior to nomination and continues for the year as an award recipient)  
  • A graduate student on track towards earning an advanced degree in physical education, health education or a related discipline (recreation, dance, kinesiology, sport management, exercise science, fitness/wellness, athletic training)  
  • Has a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)  

Award Criteria:

  • Criteria #1:  Demonstrates meritorious professional contributions and leadership in two or more areas relating to the disciplines of the KAHPERD organization (examples:  publications, innovative teaching, presentations, research, scholarship, service projects or programs)
  • Criteria #2:  Provides volunteer service and collaborative efforts within educational/professional organizations (relating to the disciplines of the KAHPERD organization) at the local, state, district, or national level
  • Criteria #3:  Demonstrates collaborative leadership qualities in providing service to the college/university and/or local community environment (examples:  projects, special events, volunteer work)

 

Award Recipient Requirements: 

  • Award recipients will be responsible for presenting at the following year’s KAHPERD conference and submitting an article for the KAHPERD journal/newsletter.
