Young Professional of the Year
Award Eligibility:
An active member of KAHPERD (membership remains active throughout the award process - initial enrollment date is prior to nomination and continues for the year as an award recipient)
Has been employed and served within a discipline representative of the KAHPERD organization for less than ten years (employed at the time of the nomination and throughout the year as an award recipient)
Award Criteria:
Criteria #1: Conducts a comprehensive and diverse physical education program that utilizes the Essential Components of Physical Education as reflected in the SHAPE America National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education and other best practices.
Criteria #2: Demonstrates exemplary leadership in one or more of the disciplines of the profession (examples: presentations, authoring publications, KAHPERD board member, service to the profession)
Criteria #3: Provides exemplary leadership within the school and local community environment (examples: volunteer work, special events, in-service opportunities, club sponsorship)
Criteria #4: Advocates for promoting healthy, active Kansans (students, families, and/or communities) through service and exemplary leadership qualities
Award Recipient Requirements:
Award recipients will be responsible for presenting at the following year’s KAHPERD conference and submitting an article for the KAHPERD journal/newsletter.
